Central Government-Recognised Sanskrit Education Centre Launched in Trichy, October 14:
In a significant move towards promoting classical language education, Samskrita Surabhi – Sanskrit Bhasha Prachara Kendra has been inaugurated at Thiruvanaikoil in Tiruchirappalli. This is Tamil Nadu’s first Sanskrit learning centre recognized by the Central Government and affiliated with prestigious national institutions.
Established in the divine premises of the Jambukeswarar-Akhilandeswari Temple, the centre functions as an official satellite unit of the Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, and as a student facilitation centre for the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati. It is also a registered educational institution under the approval of the Government of Tamil Nadu, operating in line with the ‘Education for All’ national policy.
Offering both online and offline courses, the institution provides certification and diploma programs in Sanskrit, supported by highly qualified professors. Certificates for these programs are awarded by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, and students above the age of 13 are eligible to enroll.
In a unique initiative, the centre also functions as a partner institution for the Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central School) education system, offering school-level Sanskrit-integrated education from Grade 6 to Grade 12. Students receive instruction in all regular subjects along with Sanskrit, one other Compulsory with Tamil English maths Science Social Hindi , making them eligible for government scholarships and foundation-level Sanskrit certification.
With this launch, Samskrita Surabhi sets a new benchmark in classical education – this sacred Sanskrit language promotion and accessible Sanskrit education in Tamil Nadu.
