Editorial – Journey of DILIP

It is now three years since Sri Kamakshi Seva Samithi, Mumbai took over the publication of DILIP as directed by Jagadguru Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji, Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. The Team at Sri Kamakshi Seva Samithi, has been taking a lot of efforts to design the layout and presentation of the magazine including the selection and quality of photographs and to ensure that the magazine reaches the reader in time.

Our Acharya Swamiji has been perusing and appreciating the DILIP magazine issues and offering suggestions. As can be seen from the many Anugraha Bhashanams of Swamiji, the various initiatives Swamiji has organised, Swamiji’s interactions with different sections of society during his frequent Vijaya Yatras, Swamiji’s encouragement of individual and collective efforts at preservation and dissemination of various facets of Sanatana Dharma etc., the overarching concern is the youth getting trapped in western cultural symbols and losing the moorings of our great heritage.

As noted by Swamiji in his Shrimukham of 8th January 2023 to DILIP, the opportunity to publish DILIP is mainly to ensure continuance of its lofty objectives of devoted study of deeper aspects of religion, science and society, emphasising the heritage and culture of India as ordained by Kanchi Mahaswamy. Swamiji added: “The efforts of Late Sri R.V. Raghavan and other devotees who played a stellar role in bringing out the magazine so far is much appreciated.”

The magazine has completed 51 years of continuous publication and is now entering into the 52nd year. DILIP has been trying earnestly to keep the flag of Sanatana Dharma aloft. The magazine is as good as the contributing authors. We have been lucky that good articles of varied interest have adorned the pages of this respected magazine. While thanking the contributors, we take this opportunity of urging new writers to volunteer and send us articles of value. Their service in the cause of Sanatana Dharma will be much appreciated.

Sri Kamakshi Seva Samithi has been distributing the magazine to all the Lifetime subscribers since the beginning. Many new subscribers have been added in the last 3 years. In addition, the soft copy of the Magazine reaches thousands of readers, free of cost. The Samithi, as all are aware, started in 1981, has been performing Aradhanas, Annadanams, Annabhishekam etc. and publishing Religious Calendar every year, apart from quarterly publication of DILIP, all as directed by Acharya Swamiji. The members of DILIP will do well to introduce the Magazine to their friends and relatives, especially the younger generation asking them to register by sending a mail to the Editor, dilipindia@gmail.com, giving their address and mobile no.
