श्रीकाञ्चीकामकोटिपीठाधिपश्रीजगद्गुरुचन्द्रशेखरेन्द्रसरस्वती-विरचितो गीतातात्पर्यसङ्ग्रहः || Gita Tatparya Sangraha -Pujyasri Jagadguru Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamiji, 68th Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham

That which is the pure Sat-Cit-Ananda, the one Supreme Brahman without a second, by whose radiance all this is illumined,

by whose consciousness all minds have sentience, by a drop of whose bliss, all are happy,

whose forms are Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, whose powers are Sarasvati, Lakshmi, Gauri etc.

that which is Dakshinamurti under the Banyan tree, that which is lying on the Banyan leaf (Krishna),

that which is the essence of all Upanishads, due to whose utterances Ganga flowed, on whose matted locks she, born from the Himalayas, sports,

that which destroyed the three cities, that which destroyed the Asuras Madhu and Kaitabha,

that which takes on the responsibility of all Avataras beginning with Matsya,

that which is the ornament of the Raghu dynasty,

that which took the life of the ten-faced Ravana,

that which took the form of Narasimha, with superior nails that deftly tore the chest of Hiranyakashipu, the king of Asuras,

that which incarnated as the son of Vasudeva and Devaki for exterminating the

burden (of evil kings) on earth,

that which was eager to play in Gokulam,

that which enchanted the three worlds with the music of the flute,

that which was the fierce sun to the dense darkness of Kamsa and other wicked persons,

that which had sixteen thousand gems of women beginning with Rukmini and Satyabhama as wives,

that which has lotus-feet adored (during the Agra Puja) at the excellent Rajasuya Yagna of Yudhishthira,

that which was the astute, great ocean of mercy to the sons of Kunti through the display of glories such as manifesting the Vishvaroopa while sporting as the charioteer of Arjuna the Pandava,

that which is worshipped by the great devotees Narada, Prahlada, Dhruva, Jaigishavya, Dattatreya, Samvartaka, Jadabharata, Vasishtha, Vyasa, Parashara, Shuka, Vamadeva, Bheeshma, Drona, Vidura, Sanjaya, Kunti, Arjuna, Draupadi, Parikshit etc.,

that alone is the Paramatma, the supreme light, supreme truth, supreme cause, supreme consciousness, the cloud-hued one named Sri Krishna, whose wealth is his mercy and who has completely extinguished the three types of suffering of the three worlds by showering the nectar of Gita,

the consolidation of great bliss, indicated by the term “Bhagavan”, charming and auspicious with names like Sriman Narayana, Vasudeva, Sri Raghava, Sri Krishna.

Note: The three types of suffering are: Adhibhoutika, Adhidaivika and Adhyatmika – caused by other beings, caused by natural calamities and caused by one’s own body and mind.

I have sought refuge (in you). O Lord Vasudeva, Mahadeva, Narayana, I am your slave.

In you, who are the supreme light and supreme Brahman I offer myself, a fragment of yourself, to you, as Havis (sacrificial offering).

“You are that, I am Brahman, you are I and I am you alone, I am he and he is I. I am Vasudeva and Vasudeva is I”

thus ever contemplating, the one who is seated blissfully in intense absorption , is not reborn, is not reborn.

This is, in short, the supreme experience of the essence of the Bhagavad Gita.

This is the condensed essence of the Gita, written by the head of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetha, Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekharendra Sarasvati.
