॥ श्रीमच्चन्द्रशेखर मङ्गलाष्टकम् ॥ Shrimat Chandrasekhara Mangalashtakam by Puliyur Dr. N. Raghava Dikshitar

काञ्चीपुरीनिवासाय वाञ्छितार्थप्रदायिने।
सर्वलोकशरण्याय शङ्करांशाय मङ्गलम्॥ 1

Auspiciousness to the one who resides in the sacred city of Kanchipuram, who grants the desired boons of his devotees, who is the refuge for the entire world, and who is an incarnation (amsha) of Shri Shankara. 1

 कल्याणगुणशीलाय कलिदोषविनाशिने।
परिव्राजकराजाय पुण्यश्लोकाय मङ्गलम्॥ 2

Auspiciousness to the one who possesses virtuous, auspicious qualities and character, who destroys the sins and evil effects of the Kali Yuga, who is the king among wandering ascetics, and who is renowned for virtuous fame. 2

 सदाशिवस्वरूपाय चारुकाषायधारिणे।
तापत्रयविनाशाय तपश्श्रेष्ठाय मङ्गलम्॥ 3

Auspiciousness to the one who is the personification of Shri Sadashiva, who wears elegant saffron robes, who destroys the three types of human miseries (Adhyatmikam, Adibhoutikam, Adidaivikam) and who is the greatest among those performing severe penance (tapas). 3

 वेदवेदान्ततत्त्वार्थज्ञानविज्ञानदायिने।
सर्वशास्त्रविदे तस्मै कृपापूर्णाय मङ्गलम्॥ 4

Auspiciousness to the one who bestows the ultimate knowledge (Jnana) and experiential wisdom (Vijnana) of the Vedas and Vedanta philosophies, who is the knower of all sacred scriptures, and who is filled with boundless mercy. 4

 भक्तैर्नुतपदाब्जाय भवाब्धितरणाय च।
अवतारवरिष्ठाय भसिताङ्गाय मङ्गलम्॥ 5

Auspiciousness to the one whose lotus feet are worshipped by devotees, who helps cross the vast ocean of worldly existence (Samsara), who is the most excellent among incarnations, and whose body is smeared with sacred ash (Vibhuti). 5

 हंसमन्त्रस्वरूपाय हरीशाभेददर्शिने।
चन्द्रमौलीशभक्ताय शान्तरूपाय मङ्गलम्॥ 6

Auspiciousness to the one who is the embodiment of the sacred Hamsa Mantra, who perceives no difference between Shri Hari (Vishnu) and Shri Isha (Shiva), who is a supreme devotee of Shri Chandramoulishwara, and who is the personification of absolute peace. 6

 कमण्डलुलसद्भूतिदण्डरुद्राक्षधारिणे।
शिष्यहृत्तापनाशाय शिष्टवन्द्याय मङ्गलम्॥ 7

Auspiciousness to the one who carries the ascetic water pot (kamandalu), holy ash, a staff (danda), and rudraksha beads, who destroys the mental afflictions and suffering of his disciples, and who is worshipped by the righteous and wise. 7

 सदा वैदिकधर्माणां रक्षयित्रे महौजसे।
श्रीचन्द्रशेखरेन्द्राय देशिकेन्द्राय मङ्गलम्॥ 8

Auspiciousness to the protector of Vedic Dharma at all times, who possesses immense spiritual brilliance and energy, and who is the king among spiritual teachers—the great Sage Sri Chandrasekharendra. 8
